Wanjiku seeks audience
From children of nobility-
Or from those of captivity
Someone spare her answers
When did things go wrong?
Or right for the haves?
Where was she during liberation?
When did slumber capture her?
Or light shine for haves?
Who would be her liberator?
She wonders and ponders
WANJIKU’S DILEMMA
ULTIMATE FRIEND
Many a friend I have,
They hold me as dough,
And mould in many a way,
Each in his own way.
One is a mood lifter,
With laughers true and healing.
Other councils with wisdom;
Advises with honesty that hurts
To life and not flatters to death.
Into my ego yet another breaths,
Fire of confidence and courage;
To propel and not damage
How one is a shoulder to lean on
To now-weak-then-strong soul.
Many a friend I have,
Having them in one person I wish.
THE WHITE KENYAN
As proud as I try to be,
On the streets of my home city,
“Hey, is your country this hot”,
At my back my brothers shout.
Into a local cuisine restaurant I duck.
“Can you manage Ugali?”,
Ponders the amazed waiter.
Why denounce me motherland?
Black on the flag for black……
Am your son too, color notwithstanding.
-PHOBIA
Inside Claustro- gives no peck,
But breaks and wrecks a neck.
A hand Nycto- gives the squeeze.
In the open Agora- gives no peace.
Why climb or fly high there not?
To bring you down is Acro-‘s plot.
It blows-Astrapo-‘s on your back too.
Hydro- roams the river through,
There you dare not cross.
Into your room again and you close,
Ailouro- tortures-your neighbor’s cat
The bloods on its mouth start to hurt;
Hemato-torment your heart too.
HEAL THE ILL HEART
It itches as a rash,
But you say it’s a crash.
The wrong one loves right?
If it isn’t what it is,
What is it that it is?
If it isn’t love,
Want to know what love is.
You wish I leave her alone?
My heart won’t live alone.
Giving her up will I not,
Giving in must I plot?
She gives sleepless night.
Believe me not a meal.
My heart is ever ill,
Needs her love to heal.
DEAR
Goodbye I say to loneliness,
As I face a future of brightness,
With you the love of my life.
Let love be the fuel for our journey,
Let God refill our hearts daily.
I let a cold yesterday go,
As a tomorrow with you glows.
Yesterday we were two,
Let the future define us as one.
BALANCE
Carefulness verses carelessness;
Freedom I lack from the former,
plan I lack from the later.
Selflessness verses selfishness;
Poor self I get from the former,
Undesirable self I get from the later.
Ambitiousness verses ambitionless;
Hope and faith comes from the former,
Lack of worry comes with the later.
Extravagance verses meanness;
Joy filled life I get from the former,
Assured future is promised by the later.
Burning bridges verses saving bridges;
I work hard in the former,
I relax with the fall back in the later.
Over-eating verses under-eating;
Obesity is my killer with the former,
Malnutrition spoils me with the later.
Religion verses atheism;
A fanatic I become from the former,
Purposeless life I lead in the later.
CONQUERORS OF DEATH
CONQUERORS OF DEATH
Our long gone ancestors we are,
Our posterity will so be us.
We pass the baton of life,
To our children,
And they to their children,
And their children children to their children,
To the never old bold fold future bound.
As long as the cosmos conspires to hold,
And let the planet be,
And so mother earth be,
And so the world be,
And so the nations be,
We will meet our departed beloveds
In the heaven of the future
Like we met them in this time,
Not as us, but as our posterity,
As so our ancestors do in us.
For we are here; they didn’t die.
They will be here, and we won’t die.
Only the time changes
And so the context,
And so the setting,
And so the conscience,
And so the body,
But the spirit and the soul,
Live on,
Not in us but in life.
Long life life.
